Large-scale Russian Strikes Cut Power Across Kyiv

Energy infrastructure under attack in the region
Ukraine's energy systems have faced escalating strikes in the past few days

During the night, Russian missile and drone strikes have caused blackouts in extensive areas of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were hurt while local people in eastern districts were left without electricity and faced problems to water systems, per reports from city officials.

Meanwhile, a minor was fatally injured in a different assault in the southeastern region in the southern area, based on information from regional authorities.

Moscow has increased attacks on energy facilities over recent weeks, while the country's government has called for "real steps" from partner nations to exert influence on Moscow.

"What's needed is not symbolic gestures but firm measures - from the America, the EU and the G7 - in delivering air defence systems and applying sanctions," was stated in a social media post.

Authorities reported that numerous aerial vehicles and over thirty missiles struck the country's power systems, labeling such strikes as "premeditated" and against "critical infrastructure" as the weather cools.

Government representatives said Russia was "conducting extensive attacks" and technical staff were working to restore power.

A barrage of missiles struck energy infrastructure and residential structures in the capital.

Several of the people wounded in the assaults on the city have been taken to hospital, per statements from municipal representatives.

Regional authorities said the city came under intense attacks throughout the evening. A seven-year-old child lost their life and three other people were hurt.

The assaults follow evenings of bombing campaigns in the area, portions of which are occupied by invading troops.

All of Ukraine is in a state of readiness for advanced weapon attacks, which are tougher to detect.

Authorities told journalists that Russia was intentionally trying to demolish the country's energy grid, with strikes already disrupting energy systems.

He said technical personnel and authorities were preparing for additional strikes.
